Effective for claims with dates of service on and after December 9, 2009, contractors shall be aware that percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) concurrent with carotid artery stenting (CAS) system placement in Food and Drug AdministrationApproved postapproval studies, and PTA Concurrent with CAS system placement in patients at high risk for carotid endarterectomy includes revised language specific to embolic protection devices.
